V52-V80

Thousand of these models are installed worldwide, and the models have identical electrical system and control philosophy.

The turbine is robust, and the lifetime can be +30 years – much longer than the initial design lifetime.

It is still at an early stage but the first turbines have already been updated. Retrofitting these turbines has vast economic potential.

Why

Turbines are updated with a new control system either to obtain a new site strategy. It is advisable to update the control when a turbine is refurbished or moved to another location.

Benefits

A DEIF control system reacts faster and optimises the turbine performance. Further the new system gives new and valuable knowledge about the actual turbine performance. Even a small turbine availability growth can have great impact on a 2MW turbine.

DEIF’s solution can control the original power converter in the turbines, making the asset owner independent of the original manufacturer and thereby reduce service and repair costs.

Financial

The financial perspective depends on the type of upgrade. In general, these turbine models are running fine, and upgrades are seen either in re-blading or service cost optimisation. The output of an upgraded turbine can be increased with a few percents.

Technology

The turbine controller is updated with future-proof, state-of-the-art technology that offers full access to all turbine data. The control philosophy can be adapted to the new use of the turbine, or it can follow the former strategy.

How-to

The installation is prepared with a kit from the factory and can be implemented in a running turbine with only a few days stop. In a refurbished turbine, the cabinet is reused, and the controller will be implemented in a way that makes you think the turbine originally was equipped with it. You now have a modern turbines control and are now entirely independent of the original supplier.
