"We are all being tested"

COVID-19 statement from Toke Foss, Group CEO

In times of severe challenges due to the COVID-19, we are all tested to our limits.

DEIF is supplying control systems, which are critical for the life and survival of people around the globe, within energy, transportation, datacenters and hospitals. We are very much aware of this responsibility.

"We have done everything in our hands to make sure that we can continue critical business operations without jeopardizing the safety of our employees and their families. I am proud to say, that until now we have managed to hold up very well, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our employees, not least the heroes in production and logistics. "

We have done everything in our hands to make sure that we can continue critical business operations without jeopardizing the safety of our employees and their families. I am proud to say, that until now we have managed to hold up very well, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our employees, not least the heroes in production and logistics.

DEIF is globally joined together by an extraordinary strong company culture, build up since 1933. Every DEIF employee is doing her or his utmost to carry out the vital tasks for our customers and society. We are very thankful to all of you.

Apart from those keeping our product-supply and customer-support running, most other employees in DEIF HQ and relevant subsidiaries are working from home offices. Luckily, we are used to this; being well prepared with excellent IT systems. In this way we secure the daily operations; and among others our more than 100 employees in R & D are working as hard as ever to secure the next generations of green products and solutions - from which our customers and the environment will benefit when we are through the COVID-19 crisis.

DEIF takes advantage of our global presence with 12 sales- and support offices around the world, keeping in close contact with our customers. I would especially like to mention China, our single largest market with a strong local set-up. Here it is comforting to see how life and business are returning to normal, following some very tough months. Korea and Singapore are also on the way to recovery. This brings genuine hope to the rest of the world.

I am confident that we will emerge as strong as ever on the other side of the outbreak.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a frightful test of our local and global communities. Unfortunately, many people have already died, and sadly more will follow before we see an end to it. My thoughts and sympathy are going to all the people who have lost loved ones as well as those who fear for the lives of fragile family members and friends. I too am thinking of my own family (including my 100-year-old mother) and my friends. We are all in the same boat.

"We cannot reverse what has happened, but here and now we can act. We are all responsible. Each of us must do whatever possible to stop the spread of the virus close to us; and together we must work to mitigate the consequences for the society and for the world."

We cannot reverse what has happened, but here and now we can act. We are all responsible. Each of us must do whatever possible to stop the spread of the virus close to us; and together we must work to mitigate the consequences for the society and for the world.

On the personal level, I hope and think that when this is over, all of us will better appreciate the things we have taken (maybe too much) for granted: freedom of movement, physical contact with friends and family and watching children playing happily together on the playground - without fear….

When we are through, we will have learned some very important lessons: How dependent we are on each other, how each of us, our organizations and governments cope with a severe crisis – and most importantly: how we prevent another and potentially even more deadly pandemics. Despite the horrors of the moment, hopefully we shall be able to say (to quote Winston Churchill): this was our finest hour; we passed the test.
